Declaration of Independence Letter Assignment

When you sit down to write your letter on the Declaration of Independence and John Locke please follow the guidelines below:

Letter Format:

• Name, Date, Period in top left corner
• Times New Roman 12 pt font
• 2-3 pgs in length
• Address your audience (i.e. Dear Mr Jefferson or Dear John Locke)
• Be sure to use evidence from both the Declaration of Independence and the Two Treatises of Government in your letter.

Remember you are either writing:

A fictitious letter from Locke to Jefferson critiquing his use of his theory in the Declaration of Independence.

OR

A fictitious letter from Jefferson to Locke explaining why he adapted Locke’s theory in writing the Declaration.
