Obama Analysis

The best character type to describe president Obama is a passive positive.  When Obama first ran for the presidency his whole campaign was based on hope and the idea that the future will be better.  He is so optimistic and sometimes it feels as if he is optimistic to hide his true feelings of doubt.  Even though Obama pushed and worked hard to get his Healthcare Bill passed despite doubts from his own party and Joe Biden this was one of the few things he has done and he still had help doing so.  Obama would rather compromise with the Republicans and give up some of his requests to them instead of arguing and making them fear him.  When it comes to Obama's self esteem he is confident in himself and his abilities but because he has not done great things he wants to know that people like him and still trust him.  Obama desperately wants to be an active president but the time period in which he is acting as president it makes it very hard for him to do so.  With Congress they make it difficult for Obama to get things done, but if Obama was really an active negative like LBJ he would be able to fight and use his powers as the president better in getting what he wants.  He doesn't work hard enough or smart enough to make people do as he wants.  So, him as a passive positive makes it hard for him to have a dramatic impact on the government especially now that the Republicans have both houses.  His cooperative personality might get some legislation passed but none that will benefit the Democrats more than the Republicans.  In 2016 voters want an active negative.  They need someone who is going to fight and look to control and gain power.  That is the only way that they will get something done.  However, that is only the case for the Democratic nominee.  If the Republicans keep both houses in 2016 and then elect a Republican president they can have someone that might be like an Obama because they don't need to make all the hard decisions but can sit on the sideline and just be on the ride to make sure things go well. They can voice their expert opinions but don't have to worry about doing all the hard, dirty work to get something passed.  All in all though, Obama is a hard president to put into one category.  He shouldn't definitely be categorized as passive but is not totally a positive.  So, like Sarah and her points involving Kayla I do not think Barbers theory is accurate for classifying presidents and trying to predict their success and abilities.

Is he too concerned with bi-partisanship?
