Campaign Finance Reform

After reading the article and watching the documentary, the need for Campaign Finance Reform is obvious. Elections are extremely costly in this country and money matters too much. It eliminates all candidates who aren't wealthy enough to participate, which isn't democracy. Some could even describe the current way we run elections as producing an aristocracy where rich people have all of the power. I wouldn't go that far in a claim, but money shouldn't be defining elections. The biggest issue with almost unlimited donations is that it makes the rich have more say in who gets elected than the poor. The government is essentially saying that if you have more money than you get more voice in the government. That isn't okay. If freedom of speech can't be discriminated because of race, gender, or intelligence than it should be the same with wealth. I would support an amendment that limits that amount of money a single person or candidate can donate. There needs to be a cap. It is in the interest of the country to promote equality rather than protect the rights of just the rich.
