What makes an Ad Effective?:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Id_r6pNsus

In the "Peace Little Daisy" ad, there are a lot of factors that made it a "memorable" ad.  There was emotion, persuasion, and definitely style.  However, it was lacking the truth factor.  Yes, there was the threat of nuclear war, and yes there was the truth that Americans needed to be careful as to what decisions they made in that critical time, but the fault was that whether or not you voted for Johnson, there was not going to automatically be a massive explosion killing a little innocent girl picking flowers.  It was a bit exaggerated with how true that really was.  Never-the-less, there was definitely a large sense of emotion evoked from this campaign ad, making it extremely controversial, causing it to only air once.  News broadcasters clung to this ad so much that even though it was only nationally aired once, it was still all over the news for everyone to see again.  The persuasion was also pretty high considering that no family wanted to see their children blown up.  I know it would definitely make me think twice!  Lastly there was style.  The style influenced campaign ads from then on to more risky, controversial ads that are still influenced to this day.  Furthermore, I think this ad did a good job at being effective, but the truth was still a little "far fetched".
