Are Campaign Ads Effective?

I think that all four components of emotion, persuasion, truth, and style are important when a candidate creates a campaign ad. However, the one that makes it most effective is emotion. I think this is because when an ad is so powerful and moving and it makes you actually think about the issue that was just presented in front of you, then the candidate did a good job at getting their point across. I also agree with Kayla when she says that truth is probably the next important factor. If a candidate isn't going to be truthful with his/her voters then they won't get the votes they are expecting. Everyone wants a truthful candidate that will get a clear message across. The ad that stuck out to me the most was definitely President Johnson's 1964 "Peace Little Girl" ad. This is because if a candidate starts an ad off with a little girl picking the petals off a daisy then a nuclear explosion happening, people are going to be moved and want to take action. I know I was shocked to see that in a campaign ad but if it is effective and gets the point across to the voters, then they should go to that extreme. But overall campaign ads are effective and I believe that emotion is probably the biggest factor to contribute to them.
