What makes a campaign ad effective?

I agree with Susan in that persuasive ads are effective ways of influencing voters to vote in your favor. However, I agree with Julia and Kayla in that I believe an ad's emotional ability triumphs over the other three elements we discussed in class. A good emotion ad is able to draw out the, well, "emotion" in people and makes the candidate relatable. For example, LBJ's famous daisy girl ad, was memorable and set a new standard for political ads because of it's shocking ending and LBJ's voice coming in at the end that warned America of the potential dangers the nuclear program brings. Just like that ad, but less dramatic, the ad here shows a small girl enjoying life while a voice describes how radiation can effect the girl. This ad may lack style, by not adding music or any artistic features, but is still very effective because it compelled the viewer to in a way save this little Innocent girl by voting for LBJ and his more peaceful policies. In order to gain this support and voters, the ad will include images, music, or even little girls, to make the audience feel a certain way. Emotion in any ad also compliments the other features of the ad. such in this ad where the LBJ is able to persuade people on both a logical and emotional level. There is a reason that emotional ads are becoming more popular in TV advertising. cough* arms of an angel cough* SPCA cough* because it sells the product, or in this case the candidate to the american TV watcher. Don't worry this little girl didn't get blown up because LBJ was elected and that clearly saved her.(sarcasm)
