CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM

The reading What's the Future for Campaign Finance Reform? and the documentary "Big Sky, Big Money", have changed my views drastically on campaign finance reform.  Big corporations are influencing elections and are ultimately deciding the winner based on how big their donations are.  This removes the concept of democracy from our current government system, and takes the choice away from the people and puts in in the hands of the minority.  By changing the ruling on the citizens united case, campaign finance could be altered and changed in ways to make it fairer to the people.  This would also help to remove corporation and big companies' rights as a whole, and limits could be put in place to prevent huge donations that corrupt the system.  When our election begins to be based on money and companies influencing candidates decisions, instead of a just election where the people control the rests, is when we need to start looking for reform.  The issue is when a candidate gets $2.5 million from an outside source and his opponent only gets $200,000, some problems being to arise.  This proves how influential money is in an election.  Who knows if a candidate might have an alternate agenda, or owes a bigger company? A big donation from a big company might affect how a candidate might actually act in office.  Changing this ruling could be detrimental in campaign finance reform, and could help fix this leak in our system.
